The Cubano

A sandwich is only as good as the parts it's built with. Simple as that.

And yet, too many made-to-order sandwich shops are really just assembling ingredients that came off the same wholesale truck as everyone else's. And if everybody's using the same mass-produced ingredients, is it really "made-to-order" or just assembled and boxed?

But that's not how Simply Fresh operates.

The loyal readers of the Simply Fresh Blog may recall our posts about our Turkey vs. Bacon or our Classic Reuben. But those— while admittedly spectacular— aren't our only sandwiches. A lot of menu items have come and gone in our kitchen's decade of operations. But the Cubano has been a staple from the start, and it has definitely earned that spot.

We've never been the kind of place that just assembles a sandwich. And our Cubano is no exception.

It all starts with the pork. We smoke GMO-free heritage pork shoulder and pull it right here in-store. That is the part almost nobody else bothers with– it can be slow, tedious work. But taking that extra time and putting in that extra work is exactly why our pulled pork tastes the way it does. There's no shortcut that even comes close to that flavor.

As always, the difference is in the details. We slice the grass-fed Swiss cheese and GMO-free heritage ham ourselves rather than using the pre-portioned stuff. Our dijonnaise is our original recipe - the tangy flavor that makes this sandwich next-level. And your Cubano is truly made to order, so it comes together fresh when you ask for it.

And when it's all piled onto that locally-made cubano bread? You can taste why this sandwich has stuck around for the past ten years. Smoky, slow-pulled pork. Savory, delicate ham. Melty, tangy Swiss. That sharp crunch of pickles against the smooth, creamy dijonnaise. Every bite is balanced, and every ingredient pulls its weight.

A sandwich is only as good as its parts, and this is what that actually tastes like.
